Dr. Andrew Brod, senior research fellow in the Center for Business and Economic Research, was interviewed by the News & Record regarding Greensboro’s current 9.6 percent unemployment rate.

“That’s a terrible number, but it’s less terrible than a year ago,” Brod said.

However, this number does not account for changes in the forecast during shopping season, he said: “I wouldn’t be surprised if the seasonally adjusted number would be the same or even lower.”

On the future of joblessness in Greensboro, Brod had this to say: “Most people are forecasting continued decreases in (unemployment) throughout 2013,” he said. “But suppose it drops another percentage point in 2013 — that’s still a pretty bad number.”
