UNCG Chancellor Franklin D. Gilliam, Jr. will receive one of the Triad’s Most Admired CEOs awards from the Triad Business Journal.

The 2017 class of honorees includes 18 individuals from a diverse array of industries and organizations. The recipients will be honored July 27 at an awards ceremony and will be featured in the July 28 edition of the Triad Business Journal.

Since arriving at UNCG in September of 2015, Gilliam has led the university through several key initiatives, including the development of a new strategic plan, inclusion on the NC Connect bond (securing $105 million for a new Nursing and Instructional Building) and efforts to secure millennial campus status.

Additionally, under Gilliam, the university has opened world-class facilities to serve the campus community and the surrounding region. The Leonard J. Kaplan Center for Wellness and the downtown Union Square Campus opened in August of 2016. This fall, UNCG will open Spartan Village Student Housing Phase II, a mixed-use project featuring two residence halls and 26,000 square feet of retail space.
