UNCG men’s soccer junior forward Jacques Francois has been named the Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Player of the Week for NCAA Division I men’s soccer.

Francois led the Spartans into the Southern Conference Tournament semifinals by scoring a pair of goals in the SoCon quarterfinals with a 2-1 double overtime victory over visiting East Tennessee State Saturday night. He scored both goals in the victory, including the game-winning tally in the 104th minute of action. The goals were his second and third of the season and marked the second time in less than two weeks he has scored a golden goal against the Bucs.

He has scored three goals this season and all three have come against the Bucs in the last two weeks of the year.

Francois and the Spartans will host the SoCon Tournament semifinals and finals this week at the UNCG Soccer Stadium. The fourth-seeded Spartans will play in the second semifinal game Thursday night, hosting top-seeded Mercer. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
