All are invited to the UNCG campus for the Lighting of the Vacc Bell Tower and Plaza Tuesday, Dec. 1. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Attendees will enjoy a full carillon of bells at the ceremony. A gift of Dr. Nancy Vacc, 24 additional bells have been added to the bell tower in recent weeks, and they will peal their beautiful sounds at the ceremony.

There are now 49 bells. Forty-eight or more bells are considered a full carillon, said Stacey Dickerson of Verdin. By way of context, Duke Chapel has about the same number, 50 bells.

That evening, don’t miss the chance to stroll among luminaires throughout campus. The luminaires will be placed at Moran Plaza, along College Avenue and all throughout the university. The event is sponsored by Alpha Phi Omega, the Fraternity and Sorority Association and UNCG Grounds.
