WFMY News 2 turned to UNCG Political Science faculty member Dr. Thom Little for background and context on U.S. Senate committee hearings. The interview was part of the station’s Fact Check segment which explores the claims made in political ads.

Recent ads run by Speaker Thom Tillis in the campaign for one of North Carolina’s U.S. Senate seats attacks Sen. Kay Hagan’s absence from U.S. Senate committee hearings.

“In reality, it’s not critical that you be at hearings,” Little said. Often senators are briefed before the meetings, he told the station’s reporter.

“You’ll have people that will present material and you can ask questions. But anything that she missed you can get the transcripts,” he said.
