Isaac Starnes, a sophomore in the Deaf Education program at UNCG, appeared on WFMY’s Good Morning show to talk about the need for volunteers to work with deaf and hard-of-hearing children and youths.

Communications Services for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing is recruiting mentors to work with Guilford County students grades kindergarten through 12. The new program is called TAG for Teamwork, Alliance and Guidance.

Starnes explained why he volunteers. “I am preparing to work with kids who use many different communication styles and I feel like this would be a really good opportunity to be involved with younger deaf and hard-of-hearing students in the community and get some one-on-one working experience outside of the classroom.”
