UNCG transfer student Grayson Murray was interviewed by the News & Record about being one of 10 amateur golfers in the U.S. Open tournament, which started on Thursday at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Penn.

“I’m sure I’ll be a little nervous. You can’t really not be,” Murray said. “But that’s a good thing. It’s just how you handle it. I expect to go up there, put my game face on and do pretty well. As a kid, you dream of it.”

UNCG golf coach Terrance Stewart had this to say about the young golfer: “He’s about to enter into the biggest golf tournament you can play in the entire world. No matter what he shoots, he is going to come out of the U.S. Open a better player.”
