Collage Concert Finale, 2010

Finale of the 2010 Collage Concert.

The strength of movement, power of harmony and passion of the stage will be on display Saturday, Sept. 10, during the School of Music, Theatre and Dance’s annual Collage Concert.

The event, which starts at 7:30 p.m. in Aycock Auditorium, showcases the three artistic disciplines within the school on a shared stage, allowing patrons to enjoy art forms they love and be introduced to new forms of creative expression.

“Audience members can expect to experience the widest possible variety of performances, from standard classical works, to jazz, to folk music, to electronic music,” said Dr. Kevin Geraldi, an associate professor for conducting in the school. “Collage is a way to showcase not only our world-class faculty and talented students, but also to demonstrate the breadth of musical possibilities.”

Tickets for the event — which has sold out in recent years– are $10-20 and may be purchased online at, by calling (336) 334-4849 or at campus box office locations. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more, students and seniors. All proceeds will benefit the School of Music, Theatre and Dance Scholarship Fund.

Scheduled performers include the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, University Chorale and Chamber Singers, Jazz Ensemble, Musical Theatre, Old Time Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Opera Theatre, Casella Sinfonietta, Gate City Camerata, EastWind Ensemble, Faculty Jazz Combo, piano and voice faculty members, McIver String Quartet and works from students studying music composition.

“The audience for Collage has been at capacity for the last several years, mostly because this is a highly entertaining performance, with something for everyone to enjoy,” Geraldi said.
