Greensboro Light Opera and Song, a summer enrichment program for young artists run by UNCG Opera, will present Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic operas “The Pirates of Penzance” and “H.M.S. Pinafore” June 14-16 at UNCG’s Aycock Auditorium.

“The Pirates of Penzance” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 14 and 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16. “H.M.S. Pinafore” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 15 and Saturday, June 16.

A special treasure hunt will precede the Saturday matinee performance of “The Pirates of Penzance,” starting at 1:15 p.m. Attendees to the Saturday matinee performance are also encouraged to dress up as their favorite pirate or maiden. Prizes will be awarded for the best costume.

Tickets to each performance are $22 and may be purchased in person at the Triad Stage Box Office, 232 S. Discount rates are available for students and seniors when purchased in person or by phone.

In its inaugural year, Greensboro Light Opera and Song offers weekly vocal coaching, fitness classes, dancing and acting courses and instruction on the entrepreneurial side of music to upcoming, current and recent college graduates. The monthlong program culminates with performances of “The Pirates of Penzance” at Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo, N.C., June 19-21.
