Coretta Walker, assistant director for Housing and Residence Life, was interviewed by WFMY News 2 regarding the opening of Spartan Village just five months after a fire destroyed one of the buildings under construction.

“It’s really more about Spartan Village. You’re the first to live here,” said Walker. “We’re happy to have you. Come make memories versus be adjacent to the building that burned down.”

The village includes four residence halls, a gym and faculty housing, although only three of the four dorms will be in use this fall. Reconstruction on  the fourth hall is underway; it’s expected to open in early 2014,

WXII 12Fox 8 WGHP and the News & Record also reported on the opening of Spartan Village.
