Sue Stinson, a professor of dance and the incoming interim dean of the UNCG School of Music, Theatre and Dance, has been selected to receive the National Dance Education Organization’s 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award.

The award honors Stinson’s continued commitment to promoting and advancing the field of dance education. An active member of the dance community both locally and internationally, Stinson has played key roles in the development and refinement of K-12 dance education standards.

During her time in the department, Stinson initiated UNCG’s BA degree in dance and the master’s degree in dance education. She also led the department to its first accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Dance.
