When state health officials reported the death of an infant from the flu, WFMY News 2 sought some advice from UNCG researcher Dr. Sharon Morrison, a public health expert who studies the flu virus. It was the first child death from the flu this season, and the infant was too young to be vaccinated.

Morrison advised parents to make sure everyone around the child is vaccinated and to keep the child away from public places to minimize exposure risks. She also said parents need to be vocal in shielding their children.
