The UNCG softball team is promoting its season-long campaign to help raise money in the fight against Congenital Heart Defects.

The team has picked the weekend series on April 12-13 against Western Carolina as UNCG’s official CHD weekend. Donations will be taken all weekend at the stadium’s marketing table as the team aims to raise $2,000. All donations will go toward CHD research as well as supporting families suffering from the illness.

The team has taken a strong interest in the platform after hearing about head coach Janelle Breneman’s 6-year-old nephew, Bronson, who suffers from CHD. To learn more about Bronson’s story, check out this personal video by Greta Hurst (Bronson’s mom and Coach Breneman’s sister)

CHD is the #1 birth defect worldwide. Approximately one in every 120 babies are born with a heart defect.
