Marsha Thompson, a beloved security guard at the Weatherspoon Art Museum, was remembered during a memorial service Tuesday, July 23. Thompson, 69, died of a heart attack  in her sleep last month.

The News & Record posted both a slideshow of her memorial service and an article remembering her warm presence for over a decade at the Weatherspoon.

In the article, Dr. David Holian, associate professor in the Department of Political Science, shared warm memories of Thompson’s encouragement for the  Weatherspoon lectures he arranged. As paraphrased by the N&R, Holian feared no one would show up, but Thompson would encouragingly say that more people attended than he thought.
